Happy Birthday Patrick!!

We want to help Patrick celebrate his 23rd birthday across the miles to Georgia! So I decided to share his first birthday photo. You can see that he really liked cake! Happy Birthday Patrick! We love you!

Hard at Work

After our relaxing trip to Hawaii, it was time to get home and get some work done! Terry started tearing out the floor in the dining area to lay a new subfloor so that we can put our hard wood floor down. It was quite the chore. First up comes the old vinyl floor covering....then a layer of particle board and then two more layers of old vinyl flooring then absolutely nothing!! Part of the dining are didn't have insulation underneath...you could just look straight down to the earth! So more insulation was purchased...more plywood for subfloor and lots of screws! Here is a picture of Terry measuring and squaring up the plywood subfloor. Needless to say we have had quite a mess going.

Cool jet

We were at the airport in Portland as they were introducing thier new jet! They are introducing new paint jobs and the first off the line is the OSU jet. Cool huh! Go Beavs!

Patrick on Wikiki

Before Pat flew out we went to Wikiki just to look around.

Surfer boys

Terry and Patrick tried surfing. It was a gallant attepmt but I think they will need more practice, but they look good on the beach!

The kids on the fishing boat

We had so much fun catching fish that we chartered the boat when all the kids made it on the island. The weather was more cooperative, calm seas, calm winds and lots of yellow fin tuna. We didn't catch mahi but had a great time.

The big Mahi

We caught two mahi-mahi. One was about 40 lbs. They are a beautiful fish and very tasty!!

Fishing in Hawaii

We chartered a boat and went out fishing with Lisa, Mark and Dennis. The weather was windy (about 20-35 mph) and the seas were a bit rough but we caught fish!!

Blow hole in Hawaii

We spent the day hiking Diamond Head and driving the island. We drove up the East side (windward side) and stopped to watch the blow hole. It is spectacular to see how the waves crash on the lava rocks. Hope you enjoy this video

Just another day in Paradise

Well, we began the day with a fishing pole. The fish was way more colorful in person but still very fun to catch.

I also caught a fish this morning. Not much size but he was a fighter.

4th day in Hawaii

No pictures for today but wanted to update what was going on. My sister from Arkansas finally arrived on the island after a harrowing trip. Their plane was delayed out of Houston Tx because of tornado warnings and general bad weather. They missed their connection and ended up in LA overnight in the terminal. They caught an 8:30 am flight out of LA and arrived in good order (although a day late) in Hawaii sans luggage!! So the first stop was to Kmart to buy toothbrushes, extra undies and flipflops for the beach. Luckily their luggage arrived by 10:00 pm but on the other side of the island where their kids are staying. So this morning we are doing a road trip to the North Shore for luggage and general sightseeing. We plan on doing a dip in the ocean once the swimsuits are out of the luggage. Luckily hawaii is just one big beach and swimming is anywhere you are! We sat on the lanai last night with a blender drink (much needed by this time) and watched the turtles bobbing in the surf just off the coral beach. We grilled up some Ahi and Weki Ahu (types of fish) and had a great dinner to help sooth the weary travelers. I think they got relaxed enough to get a good nights sleep. Right now Terry and Dennis have grabbed the fishing poles and headed out to see whats biting.
